Ruby's sudden and miraculous hair growth since page 77 is due to her loathing of NIRVANA. Fueled by her apetite for destruction, it will continue to grow until long enough for her to use it to.. uh, strangle Van Aerden or something.

Ruby's hair got bigger because she keeps secrets in there, and they're getting all ruffled up with her noxious anger. They need to get farther away from her head, so they urged her hair to get a bit longer. She's got some nasty plans up her sleeves, but they didn't quite fit. So her turtleneck is poofing a bit out.
